Email Solutions

E-Mail has quickly become the standard of communications on the internet and the business world since it’s inception in the 60’s. You read that right. E-mail was around before the internet. A group from MIT developed the first demonstration of electronically sharing communications on a computer system back in 1961. Since then E-mail has played a critical role in the development of the internet. Today it is difficult to find a company that does not use electronic messaging in one form or another.

Even though the utilization of electronic messaging has enhanced productivity and collaboration, it’s not without its problems. New York Times reported in April 2008 that "E-MAIL has become the bane of some people’s professional lives" due to information overload. New terms have arisen such as spam, flaming, e-mail bankruptcy, and more.

On the high end of the spectrum is Bill Gates. It was reported that Bill receives 4,000,000 emails per day. He has an entire team of individuals dedicated to sifting through his email (this is after it’s already processed through spam filters) to determine what Bill needs to read. Most individuals will never experience that level of information overload, but left unorganized, e-mail can quickly take up our time to manage.

In addition to the problems users face, companies need to decide on what kind of email system to buy. The choices are seemingly endless and the range of costs infinite. Some choices include online hosting vs. buying your own server. Computer Resources can work with you to help you make the right decision to address your company’s needs when it comes to having an e-mail system. Once that system is in place, our IT Professionals can help you to setup anti-spam and other threat management systems to reduce the amount of risk and productivity loss associated with e-mail. Additionally Computer Resources will work with your staff to train everyone on the use of e-mail to insure you are getting the most out of the system.
